International Showcase Event for the “Enabling Female Migrant Entrepreneurs” project. We had a very exciting lineup on the event which was facilitated on Thursday 24th June. On the day participants learnt about various new educational resources developed to support female migrant entrepreneurship, and heard inspiring stories from incredible female entrepreneurs. Roisin McDermott

Roisin McDermott is a self-employed consultant specialising in business start-up, social enterprise and female entrepreneurship. Roisin was manager of a growing enterprise agency and a social enterprise East Belfast Enterprise until 2009, where she led the management and strategic development of the business. During this time she doubled the turnover, doubled the staffing and tripled the asset base. She then became self-employed, to have the flexibility of working around the needs of a young family. Roisin will be discussing her involvement in the development of the “EMINENT Compendium of Good Practice”

How a love for music evolved into an entrepreneurial career

Karoun Baghboudarian, an entrepreneur (originally from Syria) but now living in Groningen, Netherlandshas established her very own music school for children. In Damascus, Syria, she was part of the National Orchestra and graduated from the conservatory. When she moved to the Netherlands, she immediately started working on her music career and yet again, successfully set up another music school for children. Together with her husband, Karoun is also part of the Refugee Orchestra in Groningen. Expert Insights from an Entrepreneurship Educator

Victoria van der Schans: An entrepreneurship teacher from Noorderpoort regional training centre in The Netherlands, Victoria is an enthusiastic teacher of Business, projects and entrepreneurship within an International Business Studies Course at Noorderpoort. Victoria always provides her diverse students with the most creative assignments, and she will be displaying to us on how to effectively use the EMINENT Course Modules in class and how to engage students who are new to entrepreneurship. Victoria is also an ambassador of the Excellence programme at Noorderpoort and will hear from Victoria during the Dutch Breakout Masterclass in our virtual event

Catia’s Entrepreneurial Journey-“Turning passion and creativity into a business”.

Catia da Nova, a native of Brazil moved to Roscommon, Ireland in March 2001 with a group of friends. Catia has worked in a variety of different disciplines before deciding to set up “Rummage”- a furniture store with a twist in Roscommon town with her partner Ray. The motivation underpinning their decision is a passion and love for antique, vintage and retro furniture combined with the prospect of achieving a better work-life balance for their family. Rummage also offers a furniture upcycling service with the aim of saving that piece which may otherwise be heading for timber heaven!
