Charlotte Dauzat and Kim Lamza, the founders of GATO & Co – a London-based, start-up and healthier pud brand, handmade in the UK with whole, 100% natural ingredients, boosted by superfoods and free from gluten, dairy, refined sugar and flour. These two women found the courage to bring their vegan friendly, gluten free indulgent desserts and present them to the dragons of the TV show The Dragons Den. They delivered a perfect pitch and secured offers from not one, but TWO Dragons!
Incredibly though, they didn’t accept either offer that was presented. Confident in their product, their brand and their marketing they walked away. But it was not without benefit. Kim has been quoted in saying “It was an incredibly difficult decision to make as we respected Touker’s food industry experience and Tej’s marketing prowess, but we took so many learnings from the experience of being grilled by five millionaires for an hour! On the train home to London from Manchester, we wrote down every piece of advice we could act on to make our business stronger. Founder Charlotte Dauzat hails from a small village in Provence in the South of France, where her family has always enjoyed healthy, whole and delicious food, as is the Mediterranean tradition.
